New York, USA (SN) | Canadian musician Justin Bieber announced on Friday that he suffers from facial paralysis that has led him to cancel two dates of the “Justice World Tour”, which is scheduled to pass through Lisbon in January of 2023.
The singer announced his state of health to fans on the social network account Instagram, advancing that he canceled two dates scheduled for Toronto, Canada.
“As you can see on my face [half paralyzed], I suffer from a syndrome called Ramsay Hunt, which forces me to stop touring,” the music superstar explained in a video for her 240 million followers.
Bieber also told fans that he is doing facial exercises and resting so he can “return to 100%” to concerts. The 28-year-old singer also had dates scheduled for New York, before heading to Europe, where he was due to give a concert in the Portuguese capital, on January 21, 2023 at Altice Arena, the promoter Ritmos & Blues announced in November 2021.
The concert in Lisbon is part of the “Justice World Tour”, which was supposed to take place until March 2023 in more than 20 countries, and which has already been postponed twice due to the covid-19 pandemic. In Portugal, tickets for the Altice Arena had already gone on sale.
This would be Bieber’s return to the concert hall in Lisbon, where he performed in November 2016, precisely on the previous world tour, entitled “Purpose” and which globally totaled more than 2.7 million spectators. The new tour will be based on the album “Justice”, released in April.
In September 2021, when he was elected artist of the year by MTV at the Video Music Awards, he underlined the importance of music as a link between people in a time of pandemic. Justin Bieber has released six studio albums, “holds 32 Guinness World Records” and has sold more than 80 million records, according to Universal Music.
“In August, he broke the all-time record for monthly listeners on Spotify, with more than 83 million listeners,” the publisher said. Bieber performed for the first time in Portugal in 2013, at the then Pavilhão Atlântico – today Altice Arena, in Lisbon, with sold out.
