James Cutfield who was the captain of the luxurious, Mike Lynch owned, Bayesian yacht at the time of the incident has spend several hours being interviewed. The hatch capsized while anchored in Porticello, Sicily.

Although, it has been reported that the yatch was hit by a storm right before it started sinking, Maritime Director of Western Sicily Rear Admiral Raffaele Macauda said, at a press conference, that there was no tornado alert in place at the time of the sinking.

Mr Cammarano added that the yacht had been hit by a downburst, which are powerful winds that descend from a thunderstorm and spread out quickly once they hit the ground.

The Italian procecutor office confirmed that James Cutfield and two other crew members will face an investigation into possible charges of manslaughter and negligent shipwreck. Cutfield and 14 other people survived the sinking, including Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares.
