Winder, Georgia (SN) | On September 4, 2024, Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, became the scene of a tragic shooting that left four people dead and at least nine others injured. The incident has sent shockwaves through the small community, located about 45 miles outside of Atlanta.




The shooting began shortly after the school day started. According to witnesses, a 14-year-old student opened fire in a hallway, causing chaos and panic among students and staff. The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office quickly responded to the scene, and the school was placed on lockdown.
