A bus overturned on Interstate 20 near Bovina, Mississippi. Six people were declared dead at the scene of the incident. The bus driver is among the departed.
According to Corporal Jason Roe, the local police responded to a call a”around 6:48 a.m”. Seven injured were reported. Out of the seven “two were critical, added Roe. Local police also confirmed that the children have been dispatched to several hospital within the vicinity.
Thirty-seven people in total have been transported to the hospital with “unknown injuries. The names of the deceased and injured have yet to be disclosed.
It has been confirmed by Warren County coroner Doug Huskey, that two of the victims were siblings. A 6-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl both from Guatemala and whom have already been identified by their mother.
It is unclear what caused the bus to drift of the highway and overturn. Nor, was it disclosed if it was caused by a medical condition experienced by the driver.
The crash is being investigated by the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
