Man Detained After 180 Animals Were Found In His House’s Freezer. Arizona police detained a man after 183 animals were found in his home’s freezer, including dogs, cats and snakes, the website Notícias ao Minuto reported.

Arizona, USA | Michael Patrick Turland, 43, admitted to freezing some of the animals while they were still alive, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Department. He was charged with 94 crimes of cruelty to animals.

The footage of the scene “was absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking,” said the sheriff’s spokeswoman, Anita Mortensen, quoted by the BBC. She added: “As an animal lover, I cried just looking at them.”

Authorities are now looking for Turland’s wife, Brooklyn Beck. The man’s arrest came after police received a report that the person had left snakes with Turland to breed, but that Turland disappeared after a few months and was unable to retrieve them. The whistleblower told police she was contacted by the property’s owner after Turland and the woman moved out of their Golden Valley home.

The contact came after the owner went to clean the apartment and found the freezer full of dead animals in the garage, including some of his snakes.

When agents arrived at the scene, they found dogs, cats, turtles, lizards, birds, snakes, rats, mice and rabbits among the Frozen animals.

Ten days later, police received reports that Turland was back at the house and detained him. The motivations for man to freeze animals are not clear.
