Angola, Luanda – Customers of Africell, a company that this Thursday officially started operations as the fourth mobile phone company in Angola, have an open line to communicate free of charge, said its executive director, Gonçalo Faria.

To promote its launch, Africell Angola will offer new customers free calls within the Africell network. Customers can also take advantage of Africell’s 4G network with data packages at up to half the price of competing offers, with 1GB of data costing just 750KZ (US$1.69).

Speaking at the formal ceremony to launch the operations, the administrator said that in the coming weeks, around 120 distributors will be available, between stores and mobile points, for people to purchase telephones, chips, among other equipment and services, at affordable prices, such as of the data balance, for sale up to 50% of those currently practiced on the market, where 1GB is equal to Kz 1500.

He clarified that the company’s accelerated expansion depends on the infrastructure sharing system with other operators, as it is a process that optimizes costs and guarantees quality of service, hence this has been done with public and private companies such as Movicel, EPAL, ENSA, among others.

“The company’s expansion plan was designed with several phases that they intend to advance, if possible, and currently work is already underway in Benguela and Lobito, and on the launch of the network in Huíla (Lubango) and in some prospection in Cabinda, for until July, said, adding that Huambo will only be available at the end of 2022.

The Africell data center, opened in 2021, is entirely cloud-based and uses state-of-the-art technology to achieve exceptional levels of resilience, reliability and interoperability. International technology brands equip the infrastructure including HP, Nokia, Dell and Oracle, as well as local partners such as CPC Africa, Jembas and Prosecurity that were involved in the design, construction and implementation of the project.

The facility is strategically located at Africell Angola’s headquarters in Luanda, in the Kings Tower building.
