Mexico | 7 Charred Bodies Found In a Vehicle
Mexico | Seven charred bodies were found in a vehicle in the industrial state of Guanajuato (central Mexico), where drug cartels clash, authorities said on Wednesday. The bodies found aboard a pick-up have not been identified, said the local security secretariat.
The vehicle is registered in the neighboring state of Michoacan, hit by the violence of “organized crime” (expression in force in the press to designate drug cartels most of the time). A colonial city in northern Mexico, Guanajuato is the capital of the same name, which is home to a refinery, among other things.
Like other states, Guanajuato has become one of the most violent states in Mexico due to the rivalry between the Santa Rosa de Lima and Jalisco New Generation cartels. The cartels fight over drug trafficking and fuel diversion.
Mexico has recorded more than 340,000 murders since in December 2006 former President Felipe Calderon launched an all-out war against drug traffickers.
