France | Mother Of 2 Frozen Newborns Indicted For Intentional Homicide
Val-de-Marne, France | Both infants died of asphyxiation. The 33-year-old mother is in custody.
The 33-year-old woman, at whose home two frozen newborns were found in Val-de-Marne, France, was indicted for intentional homicide on Tuesday evening by the Créteil prosecutor’s office.
During her first interrogation, she mentioned a voluntary act. It is still too early to understand in the exact circumstances the two newborn babies died after being found Sunday morning in a freezer in a Marolles-en-Brie house. But the autopsy carried out on the two bodies revealed death by “asphyxiation”, reports Le Parisien.
This means that the infants were viable when they were born. “Both the results of the autopsy (…) and the statements of the respondent suggest a voluntary act,” said the public prosecutor.
The examination also made it possible to confirm that the two children were not twins, specified the parquet floor of Créteil, which means that there were two births, the date of which is unknown for the moment.
At first, the 30-year-old remained silent in the face of the investigators, then delivered initial explanations, indicating that she had made two denials of pregnancies. Examinations must still be carried out to determine whether the companion whom made the macabre discovery, also a policeman, is indeed the father of the newborns.
Until now, the couple had no children together. On the other hand, she is the mother of a ten-year-old child born from a previous union, who lived in joint custody. Asked by our colleagues from Le Parisien, the neighborhood described a “problem-free couple”.
At the end of her police custody, the woman was indicted for intentional homicide and placed under a warrant of committal. The Territorial Brigade for the Protection of the Family was in charge of the investigation.
The case aroused strong emotions among the inhabitants of Marolles-en-Brie, pushing the mayor of the town to open a psychological cell.
“We are very saddened by this news. (…) It is an individual and isolated act which invites us to be more attentive to each other said Alphonse Boye with the site 94.Citoyens.
