Jordan Cashmyer, the teen that became a celebrity from a participation in the MTV show “16 And Pregnant” died ten years after her pregnancy at age 26.

In 2014,Cashmyer was featured in one of the episodes of “16 And Pregnant” by MTV. In the episode, Jordan can be seen with her family and her then boyfriend Derek Taylor. The couple split shortly after their appearance on the show.

On Sunday, Jordan’s mother Jessica Cashmyer announced the news of her death in a statement on Facebook, which was written from the account of Dennis M. Cashmyer Jr., Jessica’s late husband and Jordan’s father.

“Last night I received a call no parent ever wants,” Jessica began her post, which was written alongside a black and white photograph of Jordan.

“My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old,” she continued. “Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER.”

“Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy,” Jessica added. “Please understand and respect our privacy at this time. We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, grand daughter [sic] Lyla and family members.”

A cause of death has not been confirmed for Jordan, who died in Maryland, according to Variety.

During the episode, it was revealed that her family was against her relationship with Derek Taylor. As such, Jordan had to overcome obstacles that came with her family disowning her. As a pregnant teen, she found it hard to find a job and also experienced bring homeless.

Her struggle didn’t end there. On March 7, 2014, Jordan gave birth to her daughter Genevieve “Evie” Shae Taylor. After giving birth to a daughter that was named Evie, her struggling circumstances forced her to sign over her custody rights to her mother in 2015, according to Variety.
