Derbyshire, UK | Elderly Couple, Freda Walker And Ken Walker, Attacked, Woman Dead, Manhunt Has Started
An elderly couple, named locally as Freda Walker,86, and her husband Kenneth, 88, were attacked in their semi-detached home in Langwith Junction on Saturday.
The police was called by EMAS paramedics Saturday 15 January morning around 9:30am, local time. It was reported that a man and a woman were found with serious injuries.
Mrs Walker was pronounced dead at the scene. Freda Walker corpse was found lying next to her husband whom is suffering from life-threatening injuries and is being treated at the hospital, according to Derbyshire Police.
According to a Tweet published on Derbyshire Police account, a murder investigation has been launched after an 86-year-old woman was killed and her husband left fighting for his life after a suspected botched burglary in a Derbyshire village.
Mr Walker, a local politician whom used to represent the Langwith Ward on Shirebrook town council and is the former chairman of Bolsover district council, remains in intensive care with life-threatening injuries. He had celebrated his 88th birthday on Thursday.
Derbyshire Police said there was a “serious level of violence” used against the couple during the attack, according to another Tweet.
“There was a serious level of violence used in the incident and we are doing all we can to understand the circumstances and find those responsible.”
Local residents have reportedly been told to lock their doors and windows and not let strangers into their homes.
“Residents in and around Station Road will see an increased police presence in the coming days and I want to reassure all those in the area that all force resources, as well as regional colleagues from the EMSOU Major Crime team, are working to understand the full circumstances of this incident.

Residents and friends of the couple expressed shock on Sunday, with one saying the married couple was “devoted to each other”. The family of the victims have been aware of the situation and are working with the Police.
