Young Dolph whose real name was Adolph Thornton Jr, was killed on Wednesday in Memphis, Tennessee, while out buying cookies. He was 36.

Memphis based rapper Young Dolph was killed during a shooting at a cookie shop according to Memphis Police Department.

The killing happened Wednesday. On November 17, at 12:24 pm, the police department responded to a shooting call at 2370 Airway Boulevard, according to Police.

Once at the scene, the officers located Dolph, unresponsive lying on the floor of a cookie shop. It was Makeda’s Butter Cookies shop. Officers and onlookers could be seen in front of the shop’s broken window located in a strip shopping center.

The Black-owned cookie shop said Dolph was a regular customer. They released a statement on their Facebook page.

Because of this senseless tragedy. Makedas Cookies has decided to close today. We are heartbroken and saddened by the passing of Young Dolph. He was a regular customer and loved Makedas Cookies. Our hearts and condolences goes out to his family.

Investigators obtained video surveillance of the shooting. Pictures of two men were released on MPD’s Twitter account. The assailants are dressed with black hoodie, grey sweat pants, and white masks. One is wearing black sneakers, the other white sneakers.

According to MPD, the two suspects exited a white two-door Mercedes Benz armed with guns. They approached the victim while he was inside the shop and then opened fire several times. The two armed persons then fled the scene.

“This shooting is another example of the senseless gun violence we are experiencing locally and nationwide,”, said MPD Chief during a press conference.

So far, no arrest has been made.
