She had initially refused the role in Black Panther, until her grandson urged her to reconsider.
Cindy Butler confirmed on October 15, through a Facebook post, the death of Dorothy Steel. The Cause of death is unknown.
Dorothy Steel played the role of Merchant Tribe Elder in Black Panther. She went viral on social media in 2018 to meet Steve Harvey. Mr. Harvey had her to be his special guest on his awesome daytime talk show.
She started pursuing acting when she was 88 year old. As she grew olden she acquired many different roles in Film, TV and Commercials.
Dorothy had roles in Daisy Winters, Poms, Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses, Emperor The Oval, Jumanji: The Next Level.
She recurred in Saints and Sinners/Bounce TV as Mother Harris just to name a few.
Ms. Dorothy was signed with iSUBMIT TALENT AGENCY for 6 years
