African Muzik Magazine Awards also known as AFRIMMA is the only ceremony that represents all artists from the African Diaspora. As such, this award ceremony caters to all type of music genre from Afrobeat, Rumba, Afro HipHop to Kuduro.
This year’s, 2017, AFRIMMA will be held on Sunday, October 8th 2017. Two additional categories were added to its arsenal:
Best Lusophone and Best Francophone

The very first edition of this ceremony dedicated to the Diaspora was on July 26th, 2014 at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, TX. African artists such as Davido (Ghana), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), Fally Ipupa (Congo) etc…were present as nominees and winners.
AFRIMMA 2017
This year is a little bit different, as they are definitely more categories and therefore more artists will be present. It goes without saying that the addition of two new categories is the highlight of this year’s AFRIMMA.
In the “Best Lusophone” Category we have the following artists:
- Angola – C4Pedro, Nsoki, Ary, Yola Semedo, Anselmo Ralph
- Guinea – Yasmine
- São Tome – Calema
- Cape Verde – Nelson Freitas
- Mozambique – Mr. Bow
In the “Best Francophone” Category, the following will represent their countries
- Congo – Fally Ipupa, Maitre Gims, Hiro
- Mali – Sidikiba Diabate
- Guinea Conakry – Moh Dediouf
- Ivory Coast – Dj Arafat, Serge Beynaud
- Togo – Toofan
- Senegal – Adiouza
- Cameroon – Daphne
The 2017, 4th Annual African Muzik Magazine Awards, is said to be the best yet. We do not know what the officials mean by that but we’ll be sure to stay tuned and keep our ears open for more news.
